Grace Church Cambridge
What is your gift really worth?
A few quick sums to help you think and pray about your giving: what it's worth to the church with Gift Aid, what inflation has done to it, and what a small step up could look like.

What’s Gift Aid?
If you're a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid lets the church claim back the basic-rate tax you've already paid on your gift — an extra 25p for every £1, at no cost to you.
You need to have paid at least as much Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year as all the charities and churches you give to will claim.
Roughly when you set up, or last changed, this regular gift.
What your gift is worth to us
£125a month
£100 from you + £25 Gift Aid
That’s £1,500 a year.

What your gift is worth today
Set this year — inflation hasn’t eaten into it yet.
A next step
A small step each year keeps your gift doing what you set it up to do.
Change your monthly gift to
£104a month
That’s £4 more a month — with Gift Aid, £60 more a year for the church.
Regular gifts usually stay the same for years while prices keep rising, so the same gift quietly does a little less each year. A small, regular step up keeps your giving doing what you meant it to do.
Closing the 2027 gap
Next year's plans need a little more than we expect to receive. Every step up, of any size, helps close the gap together.
- Projected giving (incl. Gift Aid)£180,000
- The gap£12,605
- Your step would cover£60
If every giving household added about £22 a month, we’d close the gap.
Your ‘Keep pace’ step of +£4 a month (+ Gift Aid) would cover £60 of the gap.
Each dot is one giving household: 47 in all. The bright one is you.
